The Ocean - Visual Inspiration

I created these pictures with Dreame App AI, to create inspirational images, for some of the major scenes in my story. (These are for FATE OF THE GIFTED)

As Kai survives the encounter atop Greyrock Mountain, he takes a moment to catch his breath and figure out a way down the other side of the mountain, where a vastly different landscape greets him.

Along this side of the mesa, a wind-whipped and rain-chiseled stone ledge snaked back and forth into many small canyons. No divots or cracks dotted the first fifteen feet of the smooth drop straight off the cliff. At the bottom of the drop, rocky broken deposits littered the steep mountainside, and looked unstable. He didn't want to take the chance of jumping, as sore as he was.

In the distance, teal ocean water faded into the bright blue sky. The tan shoreline stretched from south to north, with rolling gentle waves breaking their white tips along the way. Further in, the broad sandy beach turned into beautiful rolling green hills. A lush forest of different sized trees hugged the bottom of the mountain, from scrub oak, to cottonwood, sycamore, sandy willow, and alder. Only the steep mountainside was without plants. Small rocks and boulders scattered across the dry, rough surface.

Fresh air swept up from the vast dark ocean below. It brought with it a scant sulfurous salt smell, with just a pinch of wet bark mixed with fresh rain. It brought him memories of hunting with his father. Kai’s stomach turned. He pushed them away with a deep breath and surveyed the mesa he sat upon.

North of him, about a mile or so away, a creek snuck through the forest all the way to shore. There, the water spread into a small delta, and north of that delta, Kai spotted a small fishing town.

Beyond that, he saw the ruins of his old family home…
